Sanu Varghese - Another marine graduate on the team has been into guiding since 2011. He enjoys taking his guests for guided treks. His craze for vehicles is to the extent that he remodels newly brought cars of his friends. With knowledge gained over the years through experience, Sanu makes sure that you have the maximum fun on treks with his witty stories. Nithula Nirmal - Nithula has been with us for the past couple of years and is currently pursuing her doctoral research in ethnobiology or the study of indigenous/tribal knowledge. She comes to work with us during the peak seasons, taking up local sightseeing tours around Munnar and occasional treks through the mountains. Her area of interest involves indigenous foods and practices and would love to give you tips on home remedies used by the tribals while on walks through the tea plantations.
Mathew Selson - This young lad from Munnar joined the tourism industry after realising that he was not made for jobs which required sitting at a place and working with computers. Attracted by the job profile of his brother Sanu, Mathew decided to give a shot at guiding and instantly fell in love with the work. Being from Munnar, Mathew was already familiar with the trek paths around and this made it easy for him while on trips with his guests. His innocent and charming personality strikes a cord with the guests, immediately developing an instant liking towards him. A budding photographer and bike enthusiasts Mathew has several role models within the team and he wishes to be like them soon.
Mary Seegirl Francis- The multitasker of the team, Seegirl is an all-rounder. She takes up guiding, office work and also conducts cooking classes for guests. A skill developed out of pure interest, its a delight to watch her explain the nuances of cooking. No matter what the task at hand is, be it guiding or home making she does it with complete dedication. Do not be intimidated by her looks for she is a graduate in nautical sciences with a deep desire to be captain one day. These poor monkeys have gotten spoiled by us, the tourist, who thinks it’s good to feed wild animals thinking we are helping them. But we are actually making them lazy- lazy to find their own food from nature. And eventually when we stop feeding them they end up starving or get killed run-over by vehicles.
Hadlee Renjith - Hadlee popularly called Lee entered the tourism industry after escaping from his degree exams. He had very little knowledge about guiding when he went for his first assignment. His parents too had no inkling that he had gone guiding… Initially they were reluctant to let lee take up guiding as a proffession as they didnot consider it a respectable job and like majority of Indian parents wanted their son to procure a white-collared job. As he continued taking guests around, the questions posed by them increased his inquisitiveness, deepening his interest to know more of what lies behind the bushes. This craze for seeking the hidden secrets fine tuned lee into an exemplary naturalist and a patient bird watcher cum wildlife photographer. Simultaneously he completed his bachelors degree and went ahead to obtain a masters degree in hospitality management and marketing. With almost 12 years of experience, Lee has now ventured out on his own starting his own company to assist more guests visiting Munnar making sure they make the best of their visit here. For lee, the best part about guiding is getting a glimpse of far off places through the eyes of his guests always ensuring that he bids them good bye with a confident “see you again”. A naturalist with a keen eye for birds, excellent photographer and an expert in off road driving, Hadlee is a fun guide to be with.
Derin Johnson - Derin joins us for local guiding activities in and around Munnar. A nature enthusiast, derin has a penchant for less explored places. So if you want to move away from the crowd and experience the quiet of nature, he is the man to be with. Choosing to be a camp organiser as his proffession has also let him pursue his desire to expose the current generation to the hidden beauty of nature. Educating them about our ecosystems and the need to protect it for our own Sustenance.
Antony Kurian - One of the senior members of the team with over 15 years of experience and a nurse by qualification, Antony is an avid traveler. He aims to visit all the destinations in India and is widely known among his friends as a person who roams around the world… With experience gained from his travels, Antony has loads to share about the culture and lifestyle of our country , keeping his guests enthralled. He narrates his stories in fluent English and his hospitality makes the guests feel warm and at home. His other interests include gardening and farming. His knowledge about the flora and fauna makes it apt to go with him for trekking.
