The Story behind our complicated Company Name RESPLENDENT EXPERIENCES Trekking in Munnar with Resplendent Experiences. There are 181 known species of amphibian in the Western Ghats, 159 of them endemic. But this Lilliputian means a lot to me, It was one of my dream to find this rare frog in the wild. When I heard its name nothing striked my mind, but when I got to see one and saw its beauty, I decided straight away, if we start a travel company one day, this will be the name “RESPLENDENT” which got a lot of meaning behind. “Raorchestes resplendens” is a critically endangered species of frog endemic to the high altitude region around the south Indian peak of Anaimudi. (2695 Mtrs) The number of this species have reduced a lot cause of habitat modification and fragmentation, pollution, pesticide use, man made fire and zero care given to them thinking it not an important part in the food chain. To spread the importance of this species we have adopted their name ‘ Resplendent ‘ to our tour company. Most of the people who hear the name of our company ‘Resplendent Experiences’ complains it’s a too complicated name, but we are extremely happy about the name and happy to spread an awareness whoever asks the significance of the name.
A Tusker sniffing me with his giant nose.Trekking in Munnar with Resplendent Experiences. It was too risky sitting just meters away from an elephant in musth, hidden under the tea bushes, but his poor eye site didn’t help locating me. Then I noticed the presence of his family too in the nearby jungle which made the scene more dangerous. I know this social animals will get mad about protecting its space and young ones. It was time for me to move when I noticed the tusker started using his trunk which can even sense the presence of water and food miles away, and with his giant hearing aid the scene will be worse if he finds me… But not before pressing the button of my camera and capturing one of his attempt to sniff me out of the tea bushes. Currently, there are only 40,000 elephants left in the wild and if things continue the way they are poached, Google might become the only option for our children to see what an elephant looks like.
Face to Face with a Giant Trekking in Munnar with Resplendent Experiences. Not often we get this close to an elephant… and the elephant stays super cool ignoring our presence. My heart almost stopped beating when this giant appeared in front of me when I was taking a sharp turn on my Motor bike. In split seconds, gaining all my mental strength even when my heart was not beating I took an U turn trying to get away from him… I didn’t look around and drove away as far away as possible and stopped to get my senses back to normal. Then I started walking towards him keeping all the possible routes in check to escape from the elephant if he chases me. I reached the turn and peeped out to check the position of the elephant, but he was still busy munching
കുരങ്ങന്റെ കയ്യിൽ പൂമാല / Trekking in Munnar with Resplendent Experiences. A very famous usage in malayalam implying the effect of a monkey carrying a garland in his hands. This is a regular phrase used to tease people in a sarcastic manner. This cute Macaque was raiding for food from vehicles and ended up opening a basket full of flowers and garlands. The poor macaque unwillingly picked up a garland and jumped off the jeep before it gained speed and took off. At the right moment I froze the scene with my Cam. The sad monkey picking the flowers one by one from the garland, waiting for the next best chance to grab some good food from the traffic. These poor monkeys have gotten spoiled by us, the tourist, who thinks it’s good to feed wild animals thinking we are helping them. But we are actually making them lazy- lazy to find their own food from nature. And eventually when we stop feeding them they end up starving or get killed run-over by vehicles.
